Safety Grant

During a regular board meeting on September 26, Warsaw Community Schools’ Board of Trustees approved a recently awarded $100,000 competitive school safety grant.

“WCS is very thankful to the State of Indiana for prioritizing funds to schools through the Secured Schools Safety Grant,” said Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert. “This funding helps to sustain our school resource officers, provide roving security detail, and maintain ongoing threat assessments inside our schools.”

“We continue to prioritize investments in school safety to help students and staff succeed without the worry of violence in Hoosier schools,” Gov. Eric J. Holcomb said. “This funding allows schools to address their specific safety needs through additional personnel and programs designed to prepare for and prevent school violence.”

The SSSG (Secured Schools Safety Grant) fund is administered by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.  Including the funds committed this year, the SSSG program has distributed more than $133 million in state matching grants to schools since the program became law in 2013. All of these funds focus specifically on school safety.
