Prior to the December School Board Meeting for Warsaw Community Schools, a special reception was held for outgoing board members Jeremy Mullins and Mike Coon.
Dr. Hoffert shared, “Board members hold a special place of service within our school community. They each spend countless hours dedicated to the betterment of our students, staff, parents, and community. As both Jeremy and Mike step off the board, we recognize that we owe them a great debt of gratitude.”
Dr. Hoffert went on to explain, “I first met Jeremy during the referendum process. His children were very young, and his passion was to ensure our school district stayed a local and national leader in education. His ongoing educational passions in our schools have included Dual Language Immersion (DLI), STEM education through agriculture, and the creation of the high school personal finance class. Jeremy has a huge heart for our community and our students. We have been blessed through his two terms on our board.”
Jeremy Mullins shared, "It has been a great honor to serve as a Board Member for Warsaw Community Schools. I am proud of the many things that WCS has accomplished during my time on the board. As I reflect back on the past six years, I am humbled to be a part of such a great school corporation. I have learned so much from Dr. Hoffert, his team, and the other board members. I will miss our time together. I know that WCS and the school board are in very good hands and I look forward to seeing what they have in store for my children and all the students in our district."
Dr. Hoffert thanked Mike Coon, adding, "Mike has shared a wealth of business knowledge and wisdom. I have appreciated and valued his systematic approach and thinking that merges the business and educational communities. He is a tireless advocate for our teachers and staff. I have personally enjoyed our conversations about promoting servant leadership, expansion of high school internships, and making sure family always stays the first priority.”
Mike Coon reflected, "It has absolutely been my pleasure over the last four years to serve our community on the WCS school board. We were able to make huge strides in compensation, addressed the needs of our student-athletes, and led the way through Covid. I am proud of the leadership team and the new board and trust they will continue to serve our community as a school system that is well respected at the state level."
Heather Reichenbach, Board President stated, "Warsaw Community Schools and our entire community are both better because of Jeremy Mullins’ and Mike Coon‘s board service. In their tenures as Trustees, they have led with determination, humbleness, and heart. While we are sad about their departure, it is with gratitude we celebrate their impact and legacy which will not be soon forgotten or easily diminished."
Warsaw Community Schools will welcome incoming school board members Tom Westerhoff and Denny Duncan in January 2023.
