Fourth grade students have been learning about renewable vs. nonrenewable resources and analyzing how the burning of fossil fuels affects our environment. This week students have been studying five different types of cars: gasoline, all-electric, hybrid electric, fuel cell electric, and plug-in hybrid electric. They've compared how each car works, how far it can go before needing to refuel or recharge, and how each car impacts the environment. Next week they'll get to design their own green energy car and defend why their car is the best! Science meets creative thinking! #WarsawInspires

Fourth graders took a trip to the Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center to take part in the Nature's Recyclers program. We know about recycling paper, plastic, and glass, but how does nature recycle? Students visited forests, prairies, and wetlands to learn that everything in the natural world is eventually broken down into its basic parts. They got face-to-face with some wriggly recyclers and discovered why decomposition is such an important process in nature! #WarsawInspires

Washington 4th grade studied pushes and pulls as forces that affect an object. They also learned about how friction can slow an object down. Using Lego Robotics they created a model to test out and demonstrate their learning. Students created robot carts to pull an object and then increased friction by attaching different wheels. #WarsawInspires
