Our SRO, Officer Bradley is a breath of fresh air! Not only does her presence help us feel protected, we admire her ability to build relationships with staff and students. You are a valued member of our hive, Officer Bradley! Thank you for being a positive role model and for your service to our community. #WarsawInspires

Washington 5th graders dissected blue crabs in the STEM Lab. They studied the internal and external anatomy of their specimen. Thank you to Mrs. Gough's HS students for leading our dissection.

Washington Kindergarteners completed their final Engineering lesson with Duplos. The word of the day was "buoyancy!" Students learned about what floats and sinks. Then they made a sailboat to see if was buoyant as well as trying out different sized sails to see if they made a difference.

First grade had a good turnout today for their Penguin Showcase! Students have researched information about penguins and were excited to share all of their hard work and learning. #WarsawInispires

Congratulations to our Students of the Month for December and January Part 2. You are shining examples of the Washington Way! #WarsawInspires

Wrapping up at the end of the month with Mr. Duane from the Warsaw Public Library as our guest for Hornet Heroes! 5th and 6th graders printed their certificates of completion for completing their courses on code.org. Students also learned about groundhogs and practiced typing skills in the Innovation Lab/Library. Great job, Hornets! #WarsawInspires

We're 100 days smarter! Last week and this week Kindergarten and our firsties showed us how good it is to be 100! #WarsawInspires

Circus day! It's an annual rite of passage the kids look forward to, some since Kindergarten, and then talk about for years afterward. Our 3rd graders had a wonderful trip to the Coliseum in Ft. Wayne, creating so many memories along with other school children all across the state of Indiana. Happy Circus Day! #WarsawInspires

This week in the Innovation Lab/Library , we are learning about penguins and exploring different species using our databases. Students in grades 3 through 6 have been coding on Code.org, using coding blocks and completing assignments. The goal is to earn a certificate by coding a snowflake. Have fun and keep learning, Hornets! #WarsawInspires

Washington Girls Who Code learned about Raye Montague. She was a computer programmer and is best know for designing the FFG-7 submarine in just over 18 hours after Nixon asked the Navy to build a new ship in two months time. The girls designed their own boats and tested their project's strength by adding weight. #WarsawInspires

Washington Kindergarteners completed their second Engineering lesson. They learned about Wind Energy, Friction, and Rotation by building pinwheels out of Lego Duplos. Then they tested their project by counting how many rulers away from the fan it still rotated. Students compared large wings vs. small wings. #WarsawInspires

First grade has begun their penguin PBL! Students are using Spike Lego education to help construct a cable car for their penguin. The penguin will move to find food in their habitat.

Welcome back, Hornets! Our first week of learning in 2025 is complete. 6th grade leaders kicked off the year by reminding us of procedures, and our Kindergartners proudly showed us their engineering skills. What a great start to the year! #WarsawInspires

Washington Kindergarteners began their STEM Engineering unit by building teeter totters with Lego Duplo bricks. They learned the difference between 'balanced' and 'unbalanced.' Students applied weights to each side in various ways to balance the teeter totters. #WarsawInspires

Happy New Year! Looking forward to experiencing all that 2025 holds with you!

Merry Christmas Hornet Family! May your season be merry and bright!

As we close out this portion of our school year, we are filled with gratitude. December felt like a month long celebration. From the beautiful sound of children's voices lifted in song, breakfast with Santa to the fun things our teachers planned for your children in the classroom this last week, we wrapped up 2024 with an abundance of goodwill and cheer. #WarsawInspires

Washington 1st Graders learned about magnets. They used magnets to learn vocabulary such as attract and repel. Then they went around the room to see what types of objects will attract a magnet. Students also did a little magic! #WarsawInspires
